How does a participant access NDIS funds to purchase a Thermomix?

Once a Participant has been found to be eligible for support through NDIS, they work with planners to design their NDIS plan, who will consider the current needs of the participant, and their future goals.

For a participant to purchase a Thermomix® using NDIS plan funds, they must have funds allocated in the Assistive Technology Support Category within their budget provision.

If there are no funds allocated in this category, then together with their planners the Participant will have to:

• apply for an early review of their plan, or
• at the annual review of their plan, apply to have additional funds included in this category.

In addition to having the category as part of the plan, the Participant will need to have an Assistive Technology Assessment Report* prepared and submitted to the NDIS.

*This is a requirement for self-managed, agency managed and plan managed plans.
